Engaging students through interactive discussions, games, activities and videos about misconceptions and risks of using cannabis and driving.

With the recent legalization of recreational cannabis in Canada, there are increasing concerns that the growing use of cannabis, particularly among youth, will pose additional road safety risks.

The Cannabis Legalization Working Group engaged facilitators from Springboard to visit four highschools in Grey Bruce. The classroom-based workshops engaged students through interactive discussions, games, activities and videos about misconceptions and risks of using cannabis and driving. The program is endorsed by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and MADD Canada.

Springboard also hosted a train-ther-trainer workshop in Owen Sound for teachers, police, drivers education trainers and other youth-allies. 22 local allies are now trained to deliver Weed Out the Risk workshops in classroom based settings throughout Grey Bruce.
